Research and professional training
Despite a dramatic increase in knowledge during the past few years a multitude of questions concerning the underlying causes of obesity and its treatment remain unanswered to date. In other words, there is a strong need for further research and efforts aiming to more efficiently treat affected patients.
Our mission
As one of the largest interdisciplinary obesity centres of Europe we consider it as our mission to conduct intensive research on the health-threatening disease obesity. For this purpose, our research efforts aim to explore the underlying mechanisms of the disease, as well as to develop new treatment measures.
Many of our »scientific projects are carried out in collaboration with other renowned international research institutions. Our research activities are funded by public research promotion institutions and foundations as well as distinct industrial sponsors.
Sharing knowledge
As far as professional training is concerned we are pleased to share our knowledge and expertise to interested individuals coming from various health care professionalities within the scope of »international workshops and symposia. These events are partially carried out by our centre itself, or team members are invited as key note speakers to other external events.
In addition, we offer »traineeships to students from various health care professionalities. To sum up, we are highly pleased to contribute to the enhancement of holistic medical care for obese patients.
